I don't know: over $30 seems alot for a National, Provincial or State Park to me just having power & water. Having said that, this park is beautiful. There is no such thing as a bad site. All are big and well separated. I paced one site out at an easy in-excess of 100' long!

Methinks one of the previous reviewers is confused. Wayside is one of the nicest we have found in Canada. PA rate of $16 and we still got a prime site overlooking the cove. Big property. Many seasonals but their area is separate from the short term campers. Good, fast, reliable and free Wi-Fi. Firewood is $5 but it is a wheelbarrow full. We would not even consider another CG if returning to the area. Perfect for Peggys Cove, just a few miles down the road or Lunenburg.

We stopped here because the information said this CG had Wi-Fi. No cellphone service in the area for us so Wi-Fi was important. Upon settling in we found that the Wi-Fi was not working. Back to the office: the answer we got was "Oh well, it was working yesterday. Go down the road and use the Wi-Fi at a business there." The wrong answer. Hours later the Wi-Fi was working: sort of. Somebody did something. We were not the only ones to complain about non working Wi-Fi. Instead of staying multiple nights, we moved on the next day. For $35 we expected better. Overall a nice CG, just not the Wi-Fi.

It is a long drive from the main road in to the campground. The road narrows & you see the covered bridge with the restricted height before you see the campground gate just before it bringing stress levels, if you have a tall rig, to the roof before they drop to safe levels again. Free WI-FI. Transients get nicest sites next to or near river. Midweek mid September the place was near empty. $18, PA rate

Vast majority are seasonal sites but most seem kept neat & tidy. WI-FI highly unstable when working. Laundry room dirty. Only 2 machines. Transient area good for the PA rate of $18. Good for an overnight.

This is a privately owned camping club that thinks it has some space suitable for transient campers. Has uneven dirt sites: pay Wi-Fi, no fire rings and no tables. It's an open yard looking at a maintenance building. We won't be returning anytime soon.

Based on previous reviews we went in with low expectations so we were not surprised when not much was received. Nothing has changed since we stopped for one night here eight years ago. Interior roads are better suited for jeeps & ATVs than motorhomes & trailers. We were guided to a site that required crossing a washed out gully. We refused. Demanded an alternate site which was not much better. Site was a mixture of coarse gravel, sand & mud. Voltage at post was low. WI-FI is implied to be included with fee. It is not. The signal was poor, even at our site close to the office. This is the only campground in the Castle Rock area & they know it. We would stay again only if there was no other choice.

This is Passport America rate. A bare spot to park. No fire ring. No table. No room to the side. Set yourself up. Go inside & stay put. OK for an overnight.

We stayed as guests of members. A nice park with sites laid out almost randomly providing a surprising amount of privacy with all the trees. Access road is tight with a large rig but doable with care. Wi-fi would be nice to have & more big rig sites in the old section.

This is a mostly seasonal CG. OK because every site is kept neat & tidy. Transients are put on a not so level open area. Great for watching approaching thunderstorms. The CG is beautifully kept. Good WI-FI. Fire rings available at extra $. Great stopping CG for an overnight or a couple days rest for laundry etc when crossing the plains.

Yup, good for an overnight while going from A to B. Narrow site. No table. No fire ring. WI-FI free but poor. Mostly seasonal/transient workers. There is expansion going on. Don't know if the new sites are intended for short term or long term guests.

We did 2 multi day stops at this campground. The first at the full hook up new sites, closest to the highways, the second at the water & 30A power sites. We much preferred the second area. Depending on wind direction, you may not hear the highways at all. Next time we will do St. Vrain again.

Kind of open to wind & highway noise but good for a one nighter on the way to somewhere else. Dinner at The Big Texan is a must.

No Wi-Fi. No fire ring. Rate is Passport America. This place is what it is. A good overnight spot worth paying the $13 for the AC rather than Walmart just down the road. You pay, then go out, and pick whatever empty spot you want. We would stay again if in the area.

Mostly transient workers seem to occupy sites here & that is OK because the whole park is neat & tidy. Surprisingly quiet with industrial property's on 2 sides. Biggest disappointment was the CAF museum, our reason for stopping here. Excellent WW2 artifacts in one hanger but very few aircraft in aircraft hanger.

Maybe a little pricey for where it is but the property itself is very clean, long pull throughs. WI-FI is $ but 4hrs per day free with coupon. Easy bus ride to Riverwalk. Would stay again.

Nothing fancy but suits the needs for a couple days in the area. Watching the cruise ships go by are a novelty if you don't normally get to see them. Convenient to Kennedy Space Center.

As per previous reviews, convenient to downtown via ferry. Very clean park. Sites well spaced. Many large hungry mosquitoes. No surprise there.

As per other previous reviews, a well deserving high rated park. Only point loss is for not having WI-FI available at a park that is not cheap. I expect WI-FI to be available & included at any park with a rack rate over $35 these days.

Very large sites, some 50A. Every site in the shade. River & trails. Bring your mosquito repellent!

This is as about as close as you can get to Avery Island. Good enough for a one or two nighter. A work in progress. Lots of long termers. No Picnic table. No fire ring. Decent site length. Good Wi-Fi.

Rate reflects off season & Passport America discount. Location as indicated on my MS Streets & Trips & Magellan GPS is off by a bit. This made for an interesting turnaround of our 5er in somebody's driveway. It is a heavily treed CG. Sites seem well separated, but it was hard to tell with all the leaves from fall on the ground. It must be very nice in summer. Having Wi-Fi would also be a big plus.

There is a very high percentage of seasonals in this park. However most keep their sites in absolutely pristine condition. We happened to be there for their early Halloween/Columbus Day weekend. The CG did not hold back on events with an excellent haunted house & a competition by the seasonals for decorated sites. Very good. Some areas are difficult to get into with a large rig. Firewood at the office was very old, wet & difficult to burn. Wi-Fi available would have earned a couple more points.

I don't understand why this campground was relatively empty when we were there in early October. It is well kept. The Wi-Fi at our site worked well. The staff could not be more helpful, & the cost is considerably less than a chain campground not far away. There is no water view; the campground is in the trees, but that was just fine because the few days we were there were windy, & I would not want to be exposed to rig destroying salt spray.

This park is as about as close to a 10 as one could ever hope for. The rack rate is $32 but they do accept Passport America & Good Sams with some restrictions of course. The wI-FI works well. The only minor irritation is the daily charge through a third party to use it. The best thing about the sites is that the RV sits on gravel/grass. The picnic table sits on a large concrete slab. No walking of mud or grass into the RV. Now imagine how much sense that makes! Utilities for each site are located side by side. Nobody has the joy of looking at his neighbors sewer line. You face your neighbors picnic table with adequate space in between. The hustle & bustle of Kitty Hawk & the rest of Cape Hattaras is a bit of a drive away but who wants to pay almost twice the amount just for the convenience along with being jammed right up next to your neighbor.

I have never seen so many 'NO' rules in a CG before; No pedal bikes, pool toys, touching of farm animals, on & on. Hardly family friendly at all. There is lots of open space yet sites are close together. Generally the CG is clean except for messy areas of the seasonals. It is lots of $ for really not much. Good enough for an overnight, but we won't be seeking this place out anytime soon.

We chose this campground because of listed Wi-Fi availability. As is so often the case it was not working. Otherwise this is a decent campground with large open spaces. Sites are big enough with enough space between. Nearby airport gets quiet early enough in the evening.

This place has to be a fisherman's dream come true. Just about every site is lakeside. Most sites are a little uneven but nothing to complain about. Sites are big & separated enough not to feel crowded in.

Overall this is a very nice campground, but who is the non camper who laid out the power system? I've never seen power posts located so far from campsites before. Bring 100' of cord to be sure to reach power.

It would be very difficult to find a serious fault with this park. It is well maintained, and the staff is helpful. We arrived late in the day without a reservation the last week of September. The park was far from full. Whenever we are back in the area we will be sure to return.

We came just for an overnight but stayed for 2. Owners are very helpful. Many seasonals are setup but are not around during the week. We were there midweek & had the place to ourselves. All of the seasonal sites are neat & tidy, unlike campgrounds seen elsewhere. Grounds are golf course standard neat & trimmed. Loads of activities for kids available. We would return again without a second thought.

A true State Park gem as long as your RV is not too big. Access roads are narrow in places & there are only a few sites that can accomodate a 40' plus vehicle. Well worth the 2.5 mile access road drive. Located in dense forest, seeing your neighbour is very difficult from most sites. The staff is very helpful & maintain the park to the highest standards.

The only thing that keeps this campground from getting a perfect 10 for a state park are a few tight spots along the interior roads. It is a beautiful heavily treed park. There are not very many big rig sites but enough if you don't mind a little challenge to get in.

The whole CG is on a gentle slope. Most sites need to be regraded. WIFI does not work anywhere near CG wide. Traffic noise from Trans Canada is constant. We would stay again, but only for an overnight again.

We were here for a few nights to do the RV museum & plant tour thing. Friendly people. Bumpy CG roads keep the speed down like it or not. WIFI works well. A little difficult to find coming from the east.

Just an overnight. We were in the newer open pull through section. WIFI, very important to us, did not work. There must also be a pig or dairy farm nearby. Odor was quite noticable.

Beautiful campground. Well maintained with pieces of old farm equipment scattered around for decoration. Like far too many CGs that say they have WIFI, & imply that it works everywhere, this one only works from sites near the office.

Very nice SP. We were on the PA rate & very early in the season. The only reason it does not rate a 10 for a SP was the poor signage leading us there, Thankyou GPS

You take your chances with northern parks in April. We had our pick of sites. NOBODY else was there. QUIET. Water had not been turned on yet so we had to fill at the office faucet. No biggie. A good portion of the bay was still covered with ice. Very pretty CG located far enough from any built up area.

You won't find many campers here mid week in the middle of April. For the price one might expect at least a few more threaded faucets. There were non. Had to use the water thief one of the few taps available. Very time consuming. Large well spaced sites. At least 20amp power would have been nice for the price too.

I believe we were the first campers for the 2008 season. We arrived mid April in mid week to find a maintenance guy hooking up the power. All the picnic tables were still neatly stored on their sides for the winter. Snow was still under trees. Ice was still 50' out from the beach. Beautiful park & we had it all to ourselves for a couple nights.

We don't know for sure what the regular rate is. We arrived on a Friday just ahead of a, unknown to us, major late season snow storm. The park was officially closed, but rather than send us off to places & weather unknown, the staff opened the gate, turned on the power (50 amp) in a section with a large double pull through & said "Bye Bye. See you on Monday, if you are still here. Close the gate for us if you can leave." We got snowed in good & had the park all to ourselves for the entire weekend. The weather & helpfulness of the staff will make that weekend one of the most memorable ever. It took the loan of some tools to dig ourselves out but we did manage to leave on the following Monday.

The park was almost empty on the Friday that we got there. We were given what must be one of the most sought after sites during the summer, overlooking the lake. Beautiful! Fall colors were at their peak 2nd week of Nov. Even Better! Could not ask for more helpful staff. Only negative would be the 'seasonals' with all the clutter around some of the trailers.

We were very fortunate to wind up here after deciding that paying a premium just for a view was not worth it someplace else. Very impressive from lobby & staff service to manicured sites. The only disappointment was the lack of a picnic table.

Location. Location. Location. That is what Trailer Village has. Six years since our last visit & heavy use of sites shows. Nothing really bad but the place could use a sprucing up. Interior roads could use a repaving & sites leveled again. We arrived mid week in mid. Oct without reservations. The RV park was surprisingly busy however the Grand Canyon as a whole was not. Wonderful to avoid the summer crowds. We toured the eastern half in our own vehicle, used bicycles to tour the close view points & the shuttle to do the western section closed to private vehicles.
10/2007

Big sites. Good interior roads. Somebody was NOT thinking when laying out site power services. Many have hookups on the 'passenger' side instead of driver side so watch out.

Our rate is an average between a non discounted day after Balloon Fiesta rate & a PA rate for the second night. A resort it is not, however the pool looked very clean & the staff are most accommodating. There is not a blade of grass to be seen but in NM where the rainfall is 15" water should not be used just to make a place look pretty. Desert is desert. Highway noise is no big issue. The only problem was the 120V circuit breaker kicking out a few times first thing in the morning. Everyone must have put the coffee makers on together. Would stay again without hesitation.

Big sites. Not level but easily doable. We were in the 'hole' below the long term area. Launching & retrieving antics of boaters provide great free entertainment especially on the weekends.

We stayed 3 nights. 30 amp power would have been nice as night temps were in the high 20s. Big sites, even for our 37'LOA 5er. Near empty even though first night was a weekend night. In park location & walking distance to canyon are big features. Can't complain about the rate either.
10/2007

The $10 rate is because we were part of a group where many extras were included so the site rate is unknown. We were dry camping & if you have the equipment to be self supporting for more than a few days the Balloon Fiesta should not be missed. Very well organised. The honey trucks were on constant patrol during the day. The water truck was never far away. The shuttles were adequate & accommodating in dropping off, especially at night when it is very easy to get disoriented in a huge temporary town sitting on wheels. Dumpsters were many & emptied regularly. A clock could be set to the 2:30AM trash truck in our area.

I would not want to be there during an event at the fairgrounds. Sites are barely wide enough for slideouts to open without touching a neighbor. Lucky for us nothing was on during the 2 four night stays we did. The CG was virtually empty each time, less than 10 sites occupied. No grass anywhere but some shaded sites. Minor negatives are the charges for dumping & for water fillup. Just power at sites. It suited our needs while in the Longmont Boulder area & we would stay there again.

rating [ 8/10 ]
We stayed at the P/A rate. Very helpful owners. Even at the non discounted rate a much better CG than the 'other' CG at the exit a few miles west which is rights next to a truck stop & charges far more. For a few $ extra you can wash your RV yourself on site, a welcome feature which we used. We would not hesitate to stop there again.

Sites could use a good tidying up. Use has taken a toll. Very pretty with a stream flowing through. We arrived while a dulcimer festival was on. A magical evening with mountain music in the trees.

Our very first experience in a COE CG & we were not disappointed. We had a site on the point above the beach. 2 weekday nights so the CG was very quiet, almost too quiet.

Neat & clean, yes. Friendly staff? Yes. The reason for the low rating is absolute compliance with rules. We had a 4 night stay, entitling us to 6 people on site per night. There was just the 2 of us however we had 4 visitors for 2 hours for dinner on the last night. There was absolute refusal on the part of the owner (after quite a discussion) to waive or give a break on the $20 charge for 4 guests who did not use any of the facilities & were only on the property for a couple of hours, even though effectively we had paid for 6 on the site anyway. We understand the need for rules but there has to be some flexibility sometimes (nobody drives at 55 if that is the set speed limit). WIFI was not working. No notice. No apologies. No suggestion of compensation. Over a month later apparently WIFI is still NOT working! Our travels will likely take us past Dayton often however the Dayton KOA will not be in future travel plans, as nice a park that it otherwise is. In fact this incident has us avoiding other KOA CGs if at all possible.

Sites were a bit tight but no matter. We did not stay an extra 3 days to look at the neighbors. A 3 day Bluegrass Festival was on site. Great time even though we had to to beg for to be accommodated in a less than perfect site. The organizers tried hard to get us the spot. We did the on site cave. New owners are trying hard, & succeeding, to upgrade this CG.

Whoops! Pulling in here was a mistake. Just one night. Enough. Lots of long termers with the related junk scattered around beaten up trailers. Next to interstate so lots of noise. Small sites. I guess there are worse but there are many which are better. Not worth the nightly rate.

A very pretty area but certainly not the 'luxury' cg that they have billed themselves. The lake/pond is disgusting. Glad we were given a site on the hill away from the lake. Speed bumps on interior roads are unneeded due to pot holes & bumps which will keep speed to a crawl anyway. Good enough for a layover stop for a day or two but not what they claim to be as a destination.
05/2007
rating [ 8/10 ]
Like so many other CGs better directional signage would be a huge help. GPS wants you to access over a weight restricted bridge. The route in takes you down a narrow section which is not that difficult with a 5er & truck over 55' long. How many other CGs offer sites where the back of the trailer can hang almost OVER a stream? The center of town is only a short walk away. This is, indeed, a gem worth whatever it's smallness challenges present. We are sorry we were there just for one night being in transit with little time to enjoy.
05/2007
rating [ 7/10 ]
Much better access signage is desperately needed. Following the GPS can take you up a mile long 10% grade. We did it, twice because of lack of signs, dragging a 15,000# 5er. The tranny was NOT happy. A tough trip even for a mountain goat. The park itself is large. Plenty of space between sites. A few sites for larger rigs if you are up to the parking challenge on narrow but good access roads. We were there on a week night. The park was virtually empty. Nothing to listen to except wildlife & occasional train in the valley below.
05/2007
rating [ 10/10 ]
At $9.50 with discounts, what a steal! This is one beautiful park with great staff. We were in transit, so only stayed 1 night & it was a weeknight so the place was virtually empty. Plenty of room around level sites. If in the area again this will definitely be a 'must return to' park, even at double the price.
05/2007
rating [ 7/10 ]
We just stopped for an overnight. No reservations & did not need them as we were the only ones there besides the seasonals off to the sides of the big field. If you are looking for a nice beach you will be sorely disappointed. Nothing but rocks & muck. Still, being on the lake front was novel, though the weather was gloomy & cold that day. All sites are just grass. Our biggest concern was what happens to the field when it rains.
04/2007

It does not get much better than this. Raised lakeside site. Deck. Good site spacing. Being there for a couple of weeknights when the park is almost empty. Could use a bit of 'sprucing up' but for the $ there is no room for complaint.

The main attraction to this park is the fact that it is right on the Mississippi. Not much shade. Hate to think what summers are like. Clean, with adequate but not spacious sites. We spent 3 nights & would do it again if only to sit on the levee & watch the river traffic go by.

Apparently owned by the town of Grapevine this is a clean, well run park. The only negative is the constant sound of air traffic going into & out of DFW but noise has to be expected in an urban campground. Sites are well situated & spaced.
